In this talk, Stephen will look at influences on his own thinking and learning, and offer ideas on the nature of ecological thought and its implications for rethinking education and learning in current conditions of deep unsustainability and uncertain futures.

Dr Stephen Sterling has been described as ‘One of the leading figures in Britain in the development of thinking about sustainable development education’ (Development Education Association). Through a long career involving teaching, researching, writing and organisational change, working with NGOs and academia, he has sought to advance ecological/holistic thinking and practice as necessary to a change of culture in education and wider society.
His best known book is the best-selling Sustainable Education – Revisioning Learning and Change, Green Books, 2001, and he also led the innovative curriculum development project Linking Thinking – new perspectives on thinking and learning for sustainability, WWF-Scotland. |
